Why Flaneur ?

The flaneur is a literary type from the 19th century, a person who wanders with no particular aim or direction, cultivating the “gastronomy of the eye”, drawing ideas and inspiration from small observations. Although generally associated with city environment, it describes quite well the way I like to do photography, which in my case takes place in quieter locations, far from the crowds.

Why this website ?

Photography as an activity is a solitary and almost meditative experience to me. That is, I think that the passion and the images that come out of it are meant to be shared.

Why square ? Why black & white ?

Because I love it ! And because operating within these chosen boundaries makes my creative wanderings much simpler and enjoyable to me. I do other aspect ratios and color occasionally though.

Which gear do you use ?

I tend to prioritize ergonomics and robustness over best in class image quality and brightness. I only shoot digital, for practical reasons. For the curious, you can check the gear page.
